Kryptonite - DIPA

Born on June 29th 2010

Here we have 'Kryptonite', my interpretation of a San Diego style DIPA. It hits the taps at the Hart and Thistle Tuesday June 29th at 5:00pm and I must say, if you like hops, you'll want to make sure you don't miss this one.

The hop-elixir is light copper coloured with calculated theoretical IBUs (international bittering units) of 233. With heavy-handed hop additions throughout and a very low final gravity this is a hop delivery vehicle with a mind-numbing 8.5% ABV, hops balancing more hops is the name of the game here. It's comprised of all Chinook, Columbus and Sorachi Ace for the bittering additions from the mash forward, then massively hop-bursted and dry-hopped with Citra, Centennial and Columbus. This is some seriously tasty stuff so get on it!

Vital Stats:
Gravity – 17.6P/1.072
IBU's - 100+ (233 calculated)
Hop Rate – 5.5 lbs/bbl
ABV - 8.5 %

Hops - Chinook, Columbus, Citra, Sorachi Ace, Centennial
Colour – 5.7 SRM
Malts - Pale Ale, Dextrin (CaraPils), Crystal 30

And it IS still Hoppy Tuesday, right? Best deal in town, by far! Can't miss.

You know it's trouble when you're halfway through the first and your already convinced you want and could have a second (or third) and still go back to work.

What time will the tank run dry tonight (Friday, July 9)?

I 'think' there'll be enough to last until sometime tomorrow evening. Fingers crossed!

See you soon, then.

Any estimate on when the new brewery is expected to open?

We're still going through some issues with the location but hopefully we'll have some good news soon.
